Overall, there are 5 states for the icon: Empty and no extra symbol - it’s not repeatable and you’ve never done it before with you current character, will give hero points when you complete. There's enough Hero Points to unlock literally 100% traits and skills for your class, + you can swap between them everytime you want (out of combat) with no cost at all. We don't have "permanent" builds in Guild Wars 2. Traits, skills and stats can be changed, so you can be damage dealer, but switch to support role for next fight if needed.

So essentially you just want to get rid of the mastery system. Just get the points without really exploring the contents. If you're still 14 short, that means there are 40 achievable points, most of them very easy to get, that you'd rather skip. yeah EoD is very Dry of masteries, and at some point u run out of them.
